Expanding therapy dog access to the local community
GRANT RECIPIENT: Paws for a Better Life (West Palm Beach, FL)
GRANT AMOUNT: $15,000
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance supported therapy animal visits in our local community for individuals experiencing isolation, depression, separation from their own pets, and other challenges. Our grant funds sponsored the training and maintenance of three therapy dogs through Paws for a Better Life. These dogs with individualized training visit facilities throughout Palm Beach County, where demand for animal-assisted therapeutic support is high, but not always readily available. Through interactions with these therapy dogs, participants experience comfort, connection, and an array of other emotional and physical benefits.

Bringing the healing power of horses to people with Parkinson’s Disease
GRANT RECIPIENT: High Hopes Therapeutic Riding (Old Lyme, CT)
GRANT AMOUNT: $30,000
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance sponsored High Hopes’ Summer Parkinson’s Program for individuals navigating the challenges of Parkinson’s Disease. Our grant funds offset the true cost of participation for all participants during the summer of 2026. These sessions provide an variety of physical, mental, and emotional benefits, including reduced feelings of anxiety and isolation, as well as increased strength, balance, physical coordination, and mindfulness. The program also enables participants to connect with others who are navigating Parkinson’s, creating powerful feelings of companionship with the horses as well as with other individuals in their cohort.

Making summer camp and equine-assisted services accessible to children of all abilities
GRANT RECIPIENT: Myrtle Beach Therapeutic Riding + Vaulting Club (Loris, SC)
GRANT AMOUNT: $11,000
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance understands the sensory, mobility, and developmental challenges that medical conditions can cause, and how significantly they can impact a child’s ability to perform basic tasks. Our grant funds provided scholarships to MBTR&VC summer camps for children of all abilities whose families otherwise were not able to afford participation. Through their interactions and professionally guided sessions with horses, campers build strength, coordination, balance, confidence, independence, and creativity in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Enabling youth and families recovering from trauma to access equine-assisted services
GRANT RECIPIENT: Shepherd Youth Ranch (Creedmoor, NC)
GRANT AMOUNT: $10,000
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance supported Shepherd Youth Ranch’s Trail to Success Program. Our grant funds provide youth and families navigating trauma with access to critical support via equine-assisted therapy. The program offers intensive psychotherapy sessions for individuals, and multi-family sessions for parents and caregivers. Participants are given the tools and skills necessary to heal, strengthen relationships, and build healthier futures together - reducing self-destructive behaviors, risk of substance abuse, and involvement with the justice system.

Providing purpose and healing to incarcerated individuals through the opportunity to train highly skilled assistance dogs
GRANT RECIPIENT: paws4people (Wilmington, NC)
GRANT AMOUNT: $50,000
of all ages navigating mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and other medical diagnoses.
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance supported this innovative program empowering incarcerated individuals to participate in the training of future service dogs. Our grant funds helped expand the paws4prisions program into both North Carolina and South Carolina. Through their participation, inmate trainers develop valuable dog training skills, empathy, responsibility, discipline, patience, and a sense of purpose - all of which promote personal growth and support rehabilitation. Their dedication and hard work help prepare highly trained assistance dogs to be thoughtfully matched with people in need. Once placed, these dogs support people of all ages navigating mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and other medical diagnoses, allowing them to live fuller, more connected lives.

Restoring vital therapy services for individuals with disabilities
GRANT RECIPIENT: Philly Goat Project (Philadelphia, PA)
GRANT AMOUNT: $17,500
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance proudly funded four “All Abilities RAMbles” at PGP. Our grant funds made it possible to bring this highly sought-after, yet critically underfunded program back to life. The RAMbles provide individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (as well as their family members and caregivers) with a free, nature-based therapeutic experience. Participants engage one-on-one with goats and trained therapy staff to learn and practice physical and verbal skills, while family members have the opportunity to share resources and build community with others navigating similar paths.

Providing horseback riding camp scholarships to inner city children
GRANT RECIPIENT: Work to Ride (Philadelphia, PA)
GRANT AMOUNT: $10,500
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance enabled children in under-served Philadelphia neighborhoods to attend horseback riding camp at Chamounix Equestrian Center. Our grant funds provided full camp scholarships to 20 youth as a supplement to their current involvement in the Work to Ride program. This enriching, confidence-building camp experience offers hands-on equine care education, introductory riding lessons, and covers essential topics like safety, teamwork, responsibility, and animal behavior. Most importantly, it gives children a week of learning, growth, and FUN in the presence of horses.

Reuniting military personnel with their four-legged war zone companions
GRANT RECIPIENT: Paws of War (Nesconset, NY)
GRANT AMOUNT: $30,000
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance supported this incredible program dedicated to rescuing animals from war-torn regions and reuniting them with the service members they formed strong bonds with during deployment. Our grant funds covered essential costs including vaccinations, microchipping, documentation and permits, and customs clearance – ensuring these pets’ safe entry into the United States to begin their new life. This life-saving initiative offers a second chance for animals who would otherwise be left behind, while providing profound emotional support for military personnel during their reintegration into civilian life.

Providing meals to at-risk pets
GRANT RECIPIENT: PAWS NY (New York, NY)
GRANT AMOUNT: $15,000
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance enhanced the existing Pet Pantry program, supporting pet parents facing physical and financial obstacles amidst fixed incomes, rising living costs, and unexpected expenses. Our grant funds provided 19,945 meals to 205 pets of 149 New Yorkers - 73% more meals than originally projected. This assistance served as a safety net for pets and owners, enabling pets to stay in their current homes, providing mutual companionship and preventing further burden on the shelter and rescue system.

Providing scholarships to students studying human-animal interactions
GRANT RECIPIENT: University of Denver’s Institute for Human-Animal Connection (Denver, CO)
GRANT AMOUNT: $10,000
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance sponsored a scholarship fund dedicated to advancing the careers of students desiring to ethically incorporate human-animal interactions into their professional practices. Our grant provided five students with supplemental funds to pursue their Animals and Human Health certificate offered by the Institute for Human-Animal Connection. We are proud to invest in the next generation of professionals in this important and evolving field, contributing to the further success of their private practices, organizations, clients, and beyond.

Lending continued support to the human-animal alliance healing den and its programming
GRANT RECIPIENT: Pawsitive Beginnings (Key Largo, FL)
GRANT AMOUNT: $16,000
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance covered the cost of 80 trauma-informed, animal-assisted therapy sessions for first responders (and their families, if desired) in The Human-Animal Alliance Healing Den at Pawsitive Beginnings. First responders encounter devastating situations on a frequent basis - typically, without access to trauma-informed mental health care necessary to process the motional toll of their work. The Healing Den is a place where these heroes can receive compassionate, confidential, specialized support. All sessions are conducted with a licensed mental health professional, accompanied by rescued foxes living on site at the sanctuary. In addition, this grant funded the creation of 300 “healing kits” provided to individuals who visited the Healing Den. Kits include tangible, take-home items to support continued emotional regulation.

Creating opportunity for children in need to benefit from equine-assisted therapy
GRANT RECIPIENT: Crossroads Corral (Longwood, FL)
GRANT AMOUNT: $12,000
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance funded 60 equine-assisted therapy sessions for youth whose insurance was not in network with providers, enabling access to programming that otherwise would not have been accessible. Post-graduation, 100% of participants reported experiencing measurable improvement, citing growth in the areas of trust, self-confidence, communication, problem-solving skills, and reduced anxiety.

Expanding community access to canine-assisted therapy
GRANT RECIPIENT: Canine Assisted Therapy (Fort Lauderdale, FL)
GRANT AMOUNT: $15,700
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance funded the addition of five (5) therapy dog and handler teams to perform work in south Florida. These teams visited healthcare facilities, schools, senior living facilities, courthouses, community events, and more, providing connection, comfort, and support to members of the community. Hunter, Rosie, Kaito, Guinness, and Chase helped nearly 8,000 people over 248 pet therapy visits throughout Palm Beach and Broward Counties. Thanks to their hard work, clients experienced significant reductions in stress and anxiety levels, improved mood, a sense of social connectedness, and more.

Providing comfort and healing to bereaved children and families
GRANT RECIPIENT: Tomorrow’s Rainbow (Coconut Creek, FL)
GRANT AMOUNT: $16,000
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance was proud to support this wonderful organization for the third year in a row in 2025! Our grant funds provided bereaved children and families with access to equine-assisted therapy sessions to facilitate their healing - both on-site at Tomorrow’s Rainbow and through their mobile Grief-on-the-Go outreach program. Grant funds also sponsored a bonded pair of therapy ponies, River & Rocky, who regularly travel to underserved communities to work with children who do not have the opportunity to visit the ranch.

Helping injured and displaced pets impacted by the California wildfires
GRANT RECIPIENT: Pasadena Humane (Pasadena, CA)
GRANT AMOUNT: $25,000
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance’s financial support provided a lifeline for pets impacted by the California wildfires, greatly reducing immediate suffering. Our grant funds ensured that displaced companion animals received food, safe shelter, and proper medical care for burns, smoke inhalation, dehydration, and injuries during and after this crisis. Additionally, this partnership supported efforts to reunify as many pets as possible with their families, preventing long-term separation.

Creating animal-assisted learning opportunities for children
GRANT RECIPIENT: Beautiful Together Animal Sanctuary (Chapel Hill, NC)
GRANT AMOUNT: $15,000
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance sponsored an animal-assisted academic enrichment initiative for youth. Our grant funds provided 775 participation hours to children who otherwise would not have had this opportunity. The program helped students strengthen their academic and life skills and reach their full potential through the support of rescued animals. Specific areas of focus included: reading confidence, communication skills, empathy and perspective-taking abilities, peer collaboration, respectful discussion, emotional regulation strategies, and reflective thinking.

Providing assistance to the pets of military veterans
GRANT RECIPIENT: Pawster Nashville (Nashville, TN)
GRANT AMOUNT: $5,000
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance provided financial support to veterans and their pets, enabling pets to have a safe home during owner deployments, and be reunited with their owners upon their return. Our grant funds provided crisis foster care for 11 dogs and cats of military members. Physical injuries, PTSD, difficulty adjusting to civilian life, and financial struggles are a few examples of what veterans may face when coming home. The love and unwavering support that their pets provide is critical to their mental health and happiness. We are proud to have played a role in keeping veterans and their animals together.

Creating “The Human-Animal Alliance Library” for animal-assisted learning program
GRANT RECIPIENT: BARK Therapy Dogs (Long Beach, CA)
GRANT AMOUNT: $2,500
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance funded the creation of “The Human-Animal Alliance Library” for this animal-assisted learning program which uses dogs to provide a supportive, non-judgmental, positive environment for children gaining confidence with their reading skills. Our grant funds purchased 566 books for 454 children working with therapy dogs to improve their reading skills. Children in the program are now able to select from a wide variety of books, spanning many different topics and reading levels - helping them progress, while keeping them engaged and having fun.

Supporting displaced pets in the wake of Hurricane Helene
GRANT RECIPIET: The Street Dog Coalition (Asheville, NC)
GRANT AMOUNT: $4,000
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance provided displaced pets in western North Carolina with free access to critical veterinary care in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Our grant funds covered the cost of vaccinations, heartworm testing and prevention, preventative medicine, treatment of wounds and infections, and pain management, for 95 dogs and cats. Supplies were brought directly into the Asheville community, meeting displaced pets and owners where they were at - making access available that otherwise may not have been possible during this challenging time.

Creating “The Human-Animal Alliance Healing Den” at fox sanctuary
GRANT RECIPIENT: Pawsitive Beginnings (Key Largo, FL)
GRANT AMOUNT: $10,000
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance provided a substantial grant to Pawsitive Beginnings, enabling the construction and fit-out of “The Human-Animal Alliance Healing Den” on site at the fox sanctuary. The end result was a tranquil, safe, private space on property where structured, impactful therapy sessions are now being conducted for at-risk youth, trauma survivors, and individuals in need of emotional healing. The space will serve as a permanent sanctuary for healing, as well as a place of resilience, hope, and transformation for many years to come. We are proud to support this innovative animal-assisted therapy program incorporating rescued foxes and their inspiring stories of redemption.

Supporting therapy horses who specialize in working with children
GRANT RECIPIENTS: Tomorrow’s Rainbow (Coconut Creek, FL) & Shepherd Youth Ranch (Creedmoor, NC)
GRANT AMOUNTS: $5,000 (Tomorrow’s Rainbow) & $5,000 (Shepherd Youth Ranch)
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance sponsored three therapy horses: a bonded pair of miniature pony geldings (River & Rocky) at Tomorrow’s Rainbow, and an off-the-track Thoroughbred mare (Tempi) at Shepherd Youth Ranch. Our grant funds offset the cost to maintain these special animals for 1 year, enabling them to continue doing incredible work supporting trauma survivors in equine-assisted therapy settings. These horses directly supported 750+ children, families, and veterans navigating grief, loss, adversity, and trauma, helping them develop healthy coping tools and a deeper sense of connection.

Providing a crisis response dog for first responders and their community
GRANT RECIPIENT: paws4people (Wilmington, NC)
GRANT AMOUNT: $25,000
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance sponsored a crisis response facility dog, AXEL, for a fire department in Wilmington, NC. Our grant funds supported AXEL’s training and certification to work as a service animal supporting first responders and civilians in the wake of high-stress, emergency situations. AXEL promotes resiliency, lowers levels of emotional distress, and decreases feelings of anxiety, fear, and depression for first responders and civilians. AXEL’s presence has been so impactful that since his placement the Wilmington Fire Department has added two additional crisis response dogs to the existing team.

Healing survivors of human trafficking through animal-assisted therapy
GRANT RECIPIENTS: Ranch Hands Rescue. (Argyle, TX) & Inspiration Ranch (Magnolia, TX)
GRANT AMOUNTS: $20,000 (Ranch Hands Rescue) & $10,000 (Inspiration Ranch)
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance provided both male and female survivors with free access to the very best animal-assisted therapy programs in the country specializing in treating those who have been trafficked. Our grant fully funded 234 total animal-assisted therapy sessions for 32 trafficking survivors. Participants experiencing serious mental health challenges including PTSD, depression, anxiety, self-harm, and suicidal ideations and attempts overwhelmingly demonstrated reduction in trauma symptom severity, improved quality of daily life, healthy boundary setting, establishment of personal safety, improved quality of healthy relationships, and renewed engagement with activities of daily life.

Healing children and young women through equine-assisted therapy

GRANT AMOUNTS: $13,000 (Tomorrow’s Rainbow) & $16,000 (Hope Reins)
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance enabled access to equine-assisted therapy services (at zero cost) to young women and children battling severe anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, and grief. Our grant provided 1000+ equine-assisted therapy sessions, touching the lives of hundreds of kids in need. We also sponsored one miniature therapy horse, Dappy (the oldest and most experienced member of the herd!), at Tomorrow’s Rainbow.

Keeping domestic violence survivors united with their pets
GRANT RECIPIENT: Women for Paws, Inc. (Miami, FL)
GRANT AMOUNT: $10,000
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance supported pet owners and their animals at a pet-friendly women’s shelter in south Florida (90% of whom survived and escaped from domestic violence situations). The lack of animal-friendly domestic violence shelters often perpetuates abusive situations, as 50% of those experiencing domestic violence refuse to leave their pet behind. Our grant funds provided food, veterinary care, and basic necessities for over 200 pets during their temporary stay at the women’s shelter. We also provided financial help to alumni during their transition out of the shelter, ensuring that their pets continued to stay with them as they began their next chapter.

Preventing pet surrenders and euthanasia during the economic recession
GRANT RECIPIENT: Harley’s Hope Foundation (Colorado Springs, CO)
GRANT AMOUNT: $25,000
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance’s grant provided emergency veterinary care, pet food, pet housing deposits, and other financial assistance to low-income pet owners struggling with financial hardship, housing complications, and pet health emergencies. Our support enabled 54 at-risk animals in the state of Florida to stay in their current homes, preventing them from being surrendered, rehomed, or euthanized. Our grant funds kept people and their beloved pets united, while saving pet lives and preventing additional strain on shelters.

Helping lost and injured pets in the wake of Hurricane Ian
GRANT RECIPIENT: Lost Pet Services, Inc. (Manatee, FL)
GRANT AMOUNT: $15,000
OUR IMPACT: The Human-Animal Alliance funded critical medical care for 53 pets who sustained significant injuries during Hurricane Ian and whose owners could not afford the cost of emergency care. Every pet that received assistance from H-AA was restored to baseline health with the exception of 1 that could not be saved. Grant funds also supported a microchip program with the Manatee County Animal Welfare, making possible free microchips with free lifetime registration to pet owners in need.
